I am a 16-year-old Sophomore who is attending High School currently. I am currently still deciding if I am going to proceed with an education in Law Enforcement or EMS. I currently have a BLS Certification provided by the American Heart Association. Later this year, I will be working on getting my Health Care Provider Card and becoming a state-approved Mandatory Reporter for Adult and Child. That’s something about me. This is mainly why I am interested in such a position in the first place.
In addition to this, I am still trying to pursue opportunities for further personal development. Whether this be through attending classes, certification trainings in real life, or even doing a ride-along with local agencies. I have also communicated with local politicians, such as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives, Tom Jeneary.
Introduction & Background of Myself
From quite a young age, I knew I was going to pursue a career where I could help people. When I found out I was passionate about Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Service, I decided it was time to start working towards it. I personalized and guided my educational and professional life to get to this point. I currently have a First Aid certification provided by HSI. I am also involved in a non-profit nationwide organization called JAG and in a sub-section of it called IJAG. I am the local association's Vice President of Civic Awareness. What this group does includes planning activities addressing issues of public concern. This group acts alone or together to protect public values or make a change or difference in the community are common types of civic awareness.
This group/committee focuses on teaching how to:
▸ Better connect and understand how your community works
▸ Build citizenship skills
Examples include: touring the local courthouse, meeting with the Mayor and other government officials, observing a panel of city employees from various departments, and bringing awareness to community needs.
